My Story

Shwanda Barnette,  J.D. is an Experienced Human Capital Leader & Executive Coach, specializing in leadership development, and organizational effectiveness, with a focus on authentic relationship building. As a former Human Capital Consulting Manager for a Fortune 100 Firm, Shwanda recognized the gap between the authentic connections clients desired, yet struggled to cultivate. To bridge this gap, Shwanda founded Becoming Yoked, LLC, a relationship consulting practice. In the spring of 2025, Shwanda was recognized and listed in the Marquis Who’s Who in America biographical registry for her professional and community contributions. Previously, she served as the Assistant Liaison to the Florida Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (FBC-LEO).  Shwanda received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 2007. Following a judicial clerkship and adjunct teaching at Georgetown Law, Shwanda enjoyed a successful career with the District of Columbia government in Program Development, Human Capital Management, and Organizational Development. In October 2018, Shwanda received a professional certificate in Diversity & Inclusion for Human Resources from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and in 2019, Shwanda was ordained to begin officiating weddings through the Universal Life Church. In 2025, she completed her training as an IAP Career College-certified Executive Coach. Shwanda currently serves on the Board of Directors for a community service non-profit, while simultaneously running her consulting practice with the unwavering support of her loving husband of 15+ years and her beautiful daughter!
